Dorsal Hypothalamic Nucleus

Additional cell groups with projections to the spinal cord are the nucleus of the fasciculus solitarius, descending trigeminal nucleus, several octavolateral nuclei, the dorsal hypothalamic nucleus, and the pretectum.

Kisspeptin immunoreactivity was observed rostrally in the preoptic area and caudally in an area lateral to the dorsal hypothalamic nucleus in both male and female anoles.

The first DAir cell groups appeared in the spinal cord, the posterior tubercle nucleus and the dorsal hypothalamic nucleus of prolarval stages.

In all three lamprey genera examined-Petromyzon, Lampetra, and Geotria spp.-MCH perikarya were found in one major anatomical site, the periventricular dorsal hypothalamic nucleus of the posterior hypothalamus.

Moderate binding was observed in the septum, in most parts of the thalamus, the dorsal hypothalamic nucleus, the median eminence, the ventral nuclei of the tegmentum, the torus semicircularis, and the interpeduncular and isthmi nuclei.

AVT-ir cell bodies were located in the preoptic area, amygdala pars medialis, ventral thalamus, dorsal hypothalamic nucleus, and nucleus of the solitary tract.

Neurons found in the dorsolateral and ventrolateral sectors mainly corresponded to the cell group named nucleus ventromedialis (or nucleus of the dorsal supraoptic decussation) in the literature, whereas neurons labelled in the medial sector corresponded to the so-called dorsal hypothalamic nucleus.

Furthermore, it was shown that whereas the caudal solitary tract nucleus has predominant long ascending connections, the projections from the anterior taste related region of the nucleus of the solitary tract have only limited forebrain projections which do not reach beyond the level of the anterior dorsal hypothalamic nucleus..
